Up till now many people still boldly questioning and opposing the western intervention in Libya. I am surprised that many people haven’t deemed necessary to answer the obvious question: Are you prepared to stand by and allow Gaddafi to massacre a large number of Libyan civilians? I am aware that the Western coalition has a deservedly appalling reputation, but it is truly unforgivable to evade answering that crucial question. I believe there is also another reason behind the west intervention in Libya; it seems to me that one of the main purposes for intervening in Libya was to send a message to other leaders in the region that this type of extreme reaction to protests would not be tolerated. If Gaddafi of all people was permitted to bomb unarmed citizens, it would have given other autocrats, dictators, and so-called presidents little incentive to do the same. Questioning my arguments, some people (if not all) would ask a crucial question: But looking at Yemen, Syria and Bahrain what kind of message did NATO really send? And that maybe there are other factors involved in the Libyan case that put the country higher up on the radar screen of NATO, factors like…oil, perhaps? The oil is a great point to be considered, as I am under the impression that Europe relied on Libya in this regard. But why not protect Qaddafi if his relationship was valuable, similar to the American government’s obvious quiet on Bahrain because of naval interests there?
What Gaddafi did and still doing to the Libyan people is beyond crazy, and it would have been such a shameful public disgrace for the world to turn their backs on, for Gaddafi’s actions were on a whole other level of crazy; it’s because Gaddafi translate the continuous call of the UN and the international world to ceasefire as = ‘see us fire’. During the Libyan uprising, only in the western part of the country at least 1,600 women have been raped, said Abdulmotalib al-Houni formerly entrusted cultural adviser to Gaddafi's son Saif al-Islam. When Qaddafi’s troops take control of an area, they destroy, steal and rape as much as they want. Over 120 young women have received treatment in Tunisia, and have performed abortions there. Among the victims, many very young girls, says al-Houni in an interview with the Arab news magazine al-Majala. So I still think that this was more than oil. Public image must have played a huge role in the decision. It's known that the West never cared about democracy or human rights, for they always keep talking about these subjects over and over, but their talk never reflected their actions, and talk without action is nothing. Besides, for many decades the dictators in the Middle East (LIKE GADDAFI IN LIBYA) and elsewhere have been practicing the human rights which the west is promoting, meaning being puppet and friend to the West and forget your own people. Now they are forced to say NO to some of their old friends because of the revolutions.
But if Gaddafi is eliminated, no matter the reasoning, NATO forces and Libyan people will still face the threat of mission creep: will the civil war ends with Gaddafi’s death/oust? Dear Libyans, that’s our role and our question to answer, not the NATO. We need to eliminate something called ‘Civil War’; Libya never faced such a war as the manic Saif claimed in his lame speeches. By God’s will and Libyans’ determination to rebuild a new FREE LIBYA, Libya shall never have such thing as civil war, because a man who desire revenge should dig two graves, and we Libyans are smarter than that and shall never fall preys to Qaddafi's evil wishes. As a girl whose father was brutally murdered by Qaddafi and his ruthless regime, I still insist that we must not seek revenge from Qaddafi or his gangs; instead we must seek justice, follow integrity and plan how to restructure a new Libya based on democratic principles, Islamic values, and ethical mind-sets, unless we will not be any better than the lunatic Gaddafi and his atrocious regime.
One more point that amazes me is how people have failed to understand that there are intrinsic differences between the Libyan scenario, and the situations in Afghanistan and Iraq. It’s because of these differences that the West can remove Gaddafi. This alone should give us cause for rejoicing, for the Libyan people will be freed to taste the fruits of democracy. Why isn’t anything done to other tyrannical regimes? Good question! The real politic cliques should know the answer to this- it’s quite simple: the West either can’t or doesn’t want to do anything about those regimes. Hypocrites! YES! That’s why I say rejoice each time a tyrant falls because if you are looking for morality, you will rarely find it in politics.
LONG LIVE FREE LIBYA
